Imagine standing at the edge of possibility, where your curiosity meets the real world. That’s exactly where you are right now. This introduction is not about diving into data or memorizing facts — it’s about seeing the world differently. It’s about understanding that STEM careers are not just for scientists in white lab coats, but for thinkers, makers, builders, dreamers, and explorers like you.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, but these four letters unlock careers across medicine, space, fashion, wildlife, oceans, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and more. These fields are dynamic. They evolve with the world. They shape the future — and they need people like you to shape them.

But what does a STEM career look like? That’s what this course is here to show you. We’ll walk through 52 careers in total, grouped across six modules, all arranged from A to Z. You’ll learn about jobs you’ve seen on TV and others you’ve probably never heard of. Some might feel like a perfect match. Others might challenge you to think differently about your skills, interests, and values.

This journey is based on the work of Stuart Naismith, a passionate primary school teacher from Scotland. He created the original A to Z of STEM Careers to help young learners discover how wide and exciting the world of STEM really is. Through videos, assemblies, experiments, and online content, Stuart opened up STEM to families, classrooms, and communities — making it fun, accessible, and real. This course builds on that energy.

We’ll explore what each job is, why it matters, and how you can get there. You won’t just learn about careers — you’ll learn about yourself. What makes you tick. What inspires you. What challenges you.

Before we begin, take a moment to reflect. Ask yourself:

• What do I already know about STEM?
• What do I want from my future?
• What kind of impact do I want to make in the world?

These questions don’t need perfect answers. Let them sit with you as you move through this course. They’ll grow, change, and become clearer as you do.
